Many thanks to two of our longstanding trustees, Olive Lowes and Andrea Munro, who recently stood down from the committee.
Olive has worked tirelessly this year, preparing for the AGM in April and then working to put the Memorial Hall on a firm financial footing. As well as the tasks to which she devoted much time, she also donated the cheerful blue seat, which stands beside the entrance and welcomes visitors to the Hall. Olive has certainly made a significant contribution, which has put us in good stead for the future.
Andrea has been on the committee for over three decades!
She kept the Hall going through Covid and, most importantly, ensured that the appropriate grants were claimed from Northumberland County Council. Without these, the Hall would have been in a poor situation now. The Hall is benefitting from free broadband and telephone and has a super, new fence as a direct result of her efforts.
This is not to overlook all the work that both Andrea and her husband John did in earlier years, way back to when the old Memorial Hall was in use. The fundraising carried out for the new building was a huge achievement and they were both very active in that.
The trustees thank both Andrea and Olive for all their hard work on behalf of the Hall for a combined total of over 40 years.
