Our 25-year-old wooden sports floor is badly worn and damaged, and urgently needs resurfacing. We do not receive any regular funding for hall maintenance and so approached Sports England to see if they could help. They have generously agreed that they will donate 50% of the cost if we can raise the remaining 50% from public donations. Amazing, but we need your support to raise £2,500.
The hall is thriving and hosts a large number of user groups including Carpet Bowls, Badminton, Toddlers, Zumba, Yoga and Keep Fit. We also run a variety of fundraising musical events throughout the year including ceilidhs, live band nights and dances, for which a safe and slip resistant floor is equally important. We are keen to offer new activities but with the flooring as it is, we are reluctant to do this at present.
If the floor continues to deteriorate, we may be forced to suspend some or all of the activities, and ultimately have to replace it entirely as usage and liquid spillages damage the bare wood.
The renovation and resurfacing of the main hall sports floor will take 5 days and will be undertaken by a wood floor renovation specialist. This will include sanding the hall floor back to bare timber, one coat of primer and then 3 coats of commercial grade slip resistant lacquer. Finally, existing court markings will be reapplied.

Don't forget - if we reach our £2,500 target for individual donations, then the Sports Council will donate the other £2,500 and we can get going with the project.
Our supporters, volunteers, user groups and event attendees are always so generous and have helped us make significant improvements to the hall over the last few years. We hope that this fundraiser will continue that tradition and deliver a significant benefit to all who enjoy the hall and it's facilities.
We have six weeks to reach our target so, if you are thinking about making a donation, however small, please don't delay. We look forward to welcoming you to the hall with a brilliant new, fit for purpose, floor.
