This year we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the opening of the New Memorial Hall with a ceilidh. An opportunity for locals to “Dance The Night Away”. The original Hall opened in 1925. I wonder if the then Committee would “Believe” the year we have had raising the funds to keep our Hall safe, warm, secure and fit for purpose “No Matter What”.
It’s certainly been a “Rollercoaster” ride of events for quizzers and crafters, music and panto lovers. “ I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” said Henry. Hall usage must be at an all-time high with regular group bookings and parties. All keeping our funding stream heading in the right direction.
Heating the Hall has been a drain on funds again this year and we have laid out on building repairs, fire equipment and security systems. However, with a gift from the “Angels” at Northern Powergrid, we now have a full array of solar panels and are heading toward zero electricity costs.
Our Hall was built for the new “Millennium” as a community asset and the Committee and dedicated group of volunteers will “Never Ever” let that change. It’s our mission.
A “Truly Madly Deeply” thank you to all the volunteers, who help us keep things running, and to the groups and organisations providing occasional grant funding.
