Something strange going on at the Memorial Hall? Seems like Marvin the Marra just didn’t want to leave after appearing in the Village Show. He was spotted making some new friends around the Hall and even popped in to Cuppa and Company at 10 on Tuesday.
Wonder if Marvin would be interested in any of the other regular activities going on? We’ve got bowlers and babies and badminton players, pipers and quilters and discussion group ladies, artists and singers and keep fit for both sexes (phew!). These regular activities at the Hall are our bread and butter, providing a regular income stream toward our overheads whilst providing useful services and a bit of fun for our Fram community.
As ever, full details about the Hall, our regular activities and events can be found on the website https://northumberlandvillagehalls.org.uk/longframlington-memorial-hall . See if you can spot Marvin hanging around somewhere.
This November sees the 25th anniversary of the official opening of the New Memorial Hall in 1998. To celebrate the event we will be having a Silver Anniversary Ceilidh on Saturday 18th November. Tickets are only £15 and include a free buffet. The bar will also be open. Book yours now from janelkartupelis@gmail.com. Oh, and Marvin might even be performing the “Marra Dance”.
So far this year we have tried table top selling, French music and slapstick panto. The two big quiz nights were hugely successful. As was the arts and craft sale which is back by popular demand on Saturday 25thNovember at only £2 admission. Put the date in your diary now!
Of course the old mining term “marra” referred to a dependable friend, always there when you needed them, just like the Memorial Hall, or “The Mem” as some affectionately call it. See you there soon.
