A very warm welcome to Wylam Institute.
NEW! Between February and May 2026 we are asking for views on the future of the Institute. Please take a couple of minutes to complete the questionnaire and let us know whether we should redevelop the building and if so, how best to make it a thriving community facility for everyone. There is more information in the Latest news section below and in the Documents tab above. The questionnaire can be accessed at
Future of Wylam Institute questionnaire.
Built in 1895-96 by donation, the Institute has been a place of recreation and wellbeing for Wylam and surrounding area for 130 years.
The hall has been extended and improved over the years (see our heritage section) and currently offers two large halls, one on the ground floor that can be split into two, and one on the first floor with a stage. Two smaller rooms are available, as well as kitchen facilities.
The Institute garden is a relaxing space with seating and is accessible for everyone to enjoy.
The hall is accessible to all, with a lift to upper floors, ramped access to the building and all rooms, and an accessible toilet.
The Institute is a Charity, run by a local committee for the village, and is a thriving hub for activities. We will always make the effort to listen to and accommodate our customers where possible, to continually strive to improve the facilities and to offer great service to everyone.
Our online booking system is available on the Booking tab and there is more information on this page about using the system. Please contact the Institute office at wylaminstitute2@gmail.com if you have any questions.
