Our third Lunch and Talk was another great success, thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. Once again a superb home made lunch was provided, minestrone soup with parmesan or smoked haddock and sweetcorn chowder, followed by strawberry roulade or sticky toffee pudding with custard or ice cream, all rounded off with tea or coffee and chocolate mints, for just £5 per head!
This month's talk given by Brian Eke, was the story of Flight Sergeant Charles Eric Atkins, a fascinating and dramatic tale of a Lancaster Rear Gunner over Nazi Germany and his eventual return to Britain and the village of Rock. Brian brought a variety of memorabilia from Eric's wartime life, and a collection in aid of the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund raised £68.54 Our grateful thanks to everyone who contributed.
The Lunch and Talk will take a break during the spring and summer, returning in September.
