Built into the stone of the outside wall, is a sunken plaque which tells the bare bones of the Hall's beginnings. The plaque simply states:
Humshaugh Village Hall
1928
Erected by Public Subscription in gratitude to the men of this neighbourhood who responded to their country's call 1914-1918.
'Lest We Forget'
Since that time, the hall has been in constant use and was redecorated and updated in 2008.
In 2019, the Commitee developed a 10-year refurbishment plan to update and improve the facilities. Since then the following projects have been completed:
- resurfacing of external car park areas
- replacement of chairs
- redecoration of all areas
- replacement of lights in main hall with LEDs
- ceiling insulation to main hall roof space
- re-sand, seal and marking of main hall floor
- replacement of stage curtains
- installation of refreshment area in meeting room
- replacement of meeting room flooring
