The Village Hall committee met last night and discussed the latest government Covid-19 guidelines in relation to indoor social gatherings in the run up to Christmas. There is some ambiguity about Government advice, partly because critical data are still lacking, but it is already clear that the new Omicron variant is spreading very quickly and that current vaccines are less effective against it than against previous variants. Because of the uncertainty surrounding the risks posed by the new variant the committee reluctantly decided that it was probably best to cancel any further social gatherings at the hall until the situation has become clearer. There will therefore be no Friday night at the Village Hall tomorrow, the 10th December and no Christmas Party on the 17th. Yoga classes already follow careful Covid guidelines and will continue for the time being. The Committee will reassess the situation at its next scheduled meeting on 19th January.
