This newsletter covers the period from May to August and is a bit late coming out as we needed
confirmation of some dates before we could publish it.
VILLAGE HALL EVENTS
COFFEE MORNINGS
Our regular coffee mornings will continue on the first Saturday in the month so 3rd May, 7th June,
5th July and 2nd August from 10.30am until 12.30pm with delicious home made cakes, coffee or
tea plus a top up and a chance for a good chat. All for £4.00.
FISH AND CHIPS
Frosty’s Fish and Chips comes to the hall on the first Friday in the month at 7.15pm The hall will
be open and you are welcome to come in and wait. Whether you just wait, have a drink or stay to
eat you are most welcome.
HIGHLIGHTS RURAL TOURING SHOWS
Two performances this summer.
Sons of Town Hall.
Folk duo David Berkley and Ben Parker perform as 19th century vagabonds in a hand built boat!
A fun evening on Sunday 18th May at 7.30.
The Bench.
A touching, humorous tale of two young people set in the darker side of professional football.
Written by Jeff Brown the ex BBC North East sports reporter. Sunday 1st June at 7.30pm.

NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE
Our agreement with them continues with their next performance “A Streetcar Named Desire”, the
classic by Tennessee Williams, starring Gillian Anderson, which will be on Wednesday 25th June at
7.00pm. Still at only £10.00, the lowest charge they will allow us to make.
They are producing another play which will be released to be shown in July or August but we
don’t know the details yet, and in the autumn Inter Alia by the same team who produced Prima
Facie.
VILLAGE HALL AGM
This is your chance to both hear how we have done last year and put forward ideas for the future.
It will be on Tuesday 10th June starting at 7.00pm but you are welcome from 6.30pm to enjoy a
complementary glass of wine. It lasts less than an hour so please come, find out the results for
the year, what’s planned and have a chat.
ANNUAL BBQ
The annual BBQ will be held on 9th August. We know it is a long time away but please put a note
in your diary. As usual chicken, beef burgers and sausages together with a selection of home
made salads and finished with an ice cream. There will be a vegetarian alternative and of course
the bar will be open.
HERITAGE BOOK
If you haven’t already got a copy it is a great addition to any home in the area. An insight into the
past of the village and village hall. Only £10.00 per copy and available from committee members
and at the coffee mornings.
OTHER EVENTS
COUNTY COUNCIL ELECTIONS
Don’t forget the hall is your polling station and it is 1st May.
PARISH COUNCIL ANNUAL MEETING
The annual parish meeting will be held on 20th May followed by the normal bimonthly PC meeting
starting at 7.30pm. All parishioners are welcome.
REGULAR CLASSES AND GROUPS
UPHOLSTERY WORKSHOP
This group has completed the winter classes but will start again on Tuesday 6th May from

Anna will continue her Pilates class on Thursday afternoons during term time contact her on

CRAFT GROUP
Jean runs a series of craft days on various subjects on Saturdays. She has May 17th, June 14th
and 28th plus July 12th and 26th booked for full day instruction on various subjects. For full

WOMENS WELL-BEING
Glynis continues her Wellbeing classes, usually fortnightly on Thursday evenings and longer

SOUND BATH
This continues on a monthly basis organised by Lindsay. The next evening is 7th May and contact
