Mobile library in Great Whittington

Northumberland County Council provides a mobile library service which visits Great Whittington fortnightly on Wednesdays.  Sadly, the old purpose-built mobile library vehicle is no longer operational and has been replaced by a white Transit van.  This has contributed to a reduction in use of the service, partly due to difficulty accessing the books but mostly because the Transit van is not recognisable as a mobile library.

There is a published timetable but timings are very approximate.  The van driver, Dan Harvey, prefers people to contact him so he in turn can let them know when he is likely to arrive.  The van carries a selection of fiction, non-fiction, audio books and children’s books.  Dan is happy to take requests for a particular author or genre and bring a selection for you, or if you have requested a particular book at Hexham library he can collect it and drop it off.

This is a very useful service for those who may not be able to access the library at Corbridge with its restricted opening hours, or who don’t wish to travel to the library at Hexham.

Dan Harvey can be contacted at:  dannyharvey@outlook.com

The van, (a transit) visits two weekly, arriving near Scott's at about 6.10 pm and leaving at about 6.30pm.

If you want to send us a contact number the driver Dan will be happy to add you to his contacts at Great Whittington where you will be alerted to any van changes. See contact details below.

The mobile library will be at Great Whittington on the following dates:

Wednesday: 13 October, 27 October, 10 November, 24 November, 8 December, 22 December 2021
