Heritage Project - Can you help?
In our Golden Jubilee year, Great Whittington Village Hall (GWVH) has been selected for a "heritage project", supported by Community Action Northumberland (CAN) and Northumberland Archives.
We aim to document the history of GWVH, including the use of the building as a village school before the VH charity (number 522066) was set up in 1971/2. This will include recording some oral histories from those who attended the school and those in the comunity who have used the VH over the past 50 years. Some of us have already received basic training in how to conserve and archive documents and artefacts. We hope to mount an exhibition in Spring 2023 and maybe create a small publication - analagous to "Great Whittington in WWII" which some may have seen. They could be re-published/published as a duo. Can you help? We are just getting "up and running" and hope that ALL those who would like to participate know about the project. We had a small "starter" board at our coffee morning this month (thanks to former resident Gill Jones) which provokred a lot of interest and, dare we say, hilarity - some "senior" residents even failed to recognise their former selves!
