HearAbouts

In 2005 the Eglingham Parish Plan identified a desire to have a parish newsletter. The first edition was produced in September 2006.

It developed into a monthly magazine produced by a completely independent group of parishioners and is governed by a constitution based on a charity commission model.

The aims of HearAbouts are "to promote and strengthen the communtiy life of Eglingham Civil Parish by producing and delivering free to every household in the Parish a news magazine with information and articles relevant to the parish without distinction of political, religious or other opinion. The organisation to be not for profit and to remain independent of any political or commercial enterprise"

The first editor was Geoff Osmond, with Andy Gray taking over the role four years later. After many years of excellent service Andy stood down and in the summer of 2024 a new editorial team of Frances Buckingham and Margaret Bell took over. There continues to be a small committee of volunteers who assist with the magazine.

HearAbouts is now a quarterly magazine, produced in March, June, September and December. Distribution is co-ordinated by Liz Grant and individual deliverers are scattered throughout the parish. Copies are also available in the Village Hall and digital copies may be sent electronically on application to the editors.

Items for inclusion in HearAbouts are welcomed from all organisations and individuals in the parish. The deadline for submission for the summer edition is 21st May.
