"About 1924 the old vicar left after twenty-odd years. He travelled by pony and trap, so the present hall was a stable, coach house etc for the vicarage. In due course it was converted into a church hall, heated by portable oils heaters and a coal fire with a little 'set pot' for washing up and a kettle for the tea. The kitchen was behind the stage. They were able to hold dances" - Mona Craig writing for 'Wall : Our Northumbrian Village'
Wall Village Hall has been in the ownership of the village through the Parish Council, since 1992. Prior to this it was the Church Hall of the Parish of St Oswald in Lee.
Wall Village is the main settlement in the parish. Designated as a conservation area in 1991, there are a number of listed buildings, as well as some later sympathetic development. The extensive green space in the centre of the village is leased from the Allendale Estate and managed by the Parish Council. Wall is home to the historic Church of St Oswald at Heavenfield and the parish church of St George. The National Trail of Hadrian’s Wall travels through the village.
