In June 2024 Hollywood came to the Jubilee Hall. Award winning director Danny Boyle chose our hall for several key scenes in his highly anticipated film 28 Years Later.
The trustees were sworn to secrecy, but it soon became common knowledge what was happening in our sleepy corner of Northumberland.
The crew took over the hall for three weeks to redecorate it and build an extension on the rear. Filming was done in one day with a further week to reinstate the hall. All lights, radiators and sockets were removed and the main hall painted to look old and neglected. Having watched the trailer it would appear some kind of celebration scene took place. The Reading Room acted as a school room.
Aaron Taylor Johnson was in some of the scenes and was rumoured to have been in the village.
It was a great experience being involved in such a big blockbuster and hopefully it will raise the profile of the Jubilee Hall.
