The Institute held its annual AGM on Wednesday 10 June and we are very grateful to everyone who attended the meeting.
The AGM re-elected 10 trustees for 2026-27 and 5 new trustees joined the committee, making a total of 15 trustees for the coming year. The Chair thanked Roger Turner for his 40 years as a trustee as he retires, and thanked Fiona Oomes for her 19 years of service as Secretary.
Trustees asked for approval for a new constitution as the Institute is applying to the Charity Commission to set up a new Charitable Incorporated Organisation. This will be a 'foundation' model constitution where all residents of NE41 can vote to elect trustees and any other important business decisions. This resolution was approved by all members attending the AGM.
This change means the Institute will no longer have an 'association' model with members and we will close the existing membership subscription scheme in December 2026. A new 'friends of the Institute' scheme will open in 2027 for donations towards our upkeep.
You can view the Chair and Treasurer's reports, the new constitution and financial documents in the Documents tab of this website.
