The main part of the hall was built in 1934. It was built on the site of a reading room, games room and school room with additional land donated by Mr W Coulson of Chareheads. The building was to be a main hall of wood, two cloakrooms and a kitchen of stone. It took 28 years for the money to be raised to build the new hall.
