The hearse house used to store the horse- drawn hearse which was gifted to the community of Ninebanks by the local philanthropist Isaac Holden. The Hearse House was restored in 2015 as part of a project by led by the North Pennines AONB Partnership with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. It's now a very welcome shelter, from the weather, for walkers.
