15th Nov. 2024 – 7.00pm                 Highlights touring theatre presents The Bookshop Band.

The Bookshop Band are the musical offspring of an artistic love-affair between a group of award-winning folk songwriters, Beth Porter and Ben Please, and an independent bookshop in the UK. The songs are the musical outpouring of the band’s own response to books they have read, curated by the bookshop. They have released 13 albums featuring many of the authors they have worked with.

20th  Nov. 2024 - 7:00pm  TALK: Lindisfarne to the Lake District. Searching for a lost Viking Kingdom.

The Viking assault on Lindisfarne marked the beginning of the Viking age in  Europe.

This talk by Steve Dickinson will explore Viking archaeology in our region. Steve has been a key figure in this - he directed a dig which found the footings of a Viking period longhouse near Windermere. Expect a fascinating evening.              Free – donations always welcome

27th  Nov 2024 – 7.00 pm                BOOK  launch: Great Whittington Village Hall at 50.

The village has changed  a lot since the County Primary school became our village hall charity in 1972. We were one of 45 village halls in Northumberland to participate in the Northumberland Heritage project and now have a record of our first 50 years. Come along for a presentation of the  historic photos that have been collected, some of which have made it into the book. A Xmas present for any resident – past or present!                Free – Book can be purchased for only £10.00

7th Dec. 2024 – 10.30 – 3.30pm                    Great Whittington Village Hall Christmas Fair

We are combining our regular coffee morning with the annual Christmas Fair.  We have a selection of lovely stalls for you to do some Christmas shopping, while enjoying the usual array of mouthwatering home baking with a cup of coffee or tea.
