Everyone at Dalton Village Hall was proud to welcome BBC Radio 1’s Greg James on Day 7 of Radio 1’s Longest Ride — his epic tandem cycle challenge from Weymouth to Edinburgh in support of Comic Relief.
Greg, Jamie Laing (his celebrity partner for the day), and the whole team stopped off at our lovely Village Hall for a much‑needed pit stop, enjoying traybakes, fresh fruit, hot sausage rolls, and plenty of snacks to refuel.
With this week being Village Halls Week, it was a brilliant moment to showcase our warm, versatile community space and everything it offers. It was a pleasure to meet Greg, Jamie, and the crew, and to play even a small part in their journey.
They’re now heading on to Otterburn, finishing in Edinburgh tomorrow — and have already raised an incredible £2 million for Comic Relief. If you’d like to support the challenge, you can donate here:

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who coordinated the visit so smoothly and made the Hall look welcoming and vibrant. And a big shout‑out to our local food suppliers, Davidsons and Elliott’s Greengrocers, for keeping everyone fuelled.
As you can see from our pictures, it's a lovely warm and welcoming space to host any type of event. We provided all of the catering in our very own kitchen, using local suppliers, so if this is something you're interested in, please do contact us to arrange a chat.
