Film - A Real Pain

12 Jul 2025 - 7:30pm to 9:30pm

A Real Pain is a 2024 comedy-drama film written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg; the film stars Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin as mismatched cousins who reunite for a Jewish heritage tour through Poland in honour of their late grandmother, but their old tensions resurface against the backdrop of their family history. Led by a scene-stealing turn from Kieran Culkin, who won both an Oscar and a BAFTA for this role, A Real Pain is a powerfully funny, emotionally resonant dramedy that finds writer-director-star Jesse Eisenberg playing to his strengths on either side of the camera. The beautiful score is almost entirely composed of piano pieces by Frederic Chopin. (cert 15, 1h 39’).
