As I write and glance outside, the sky is grey, we have just experienced torrential rain, it’s chilly so I filled the log basket and lit the stove, then I reminded myself that it’s the middle of June!!! Hopefully, by the time of reading we have experienced some warmth and sunshine.
The Village Hall, on the other hand, is looking very bright indeed. On leaving a meeting on Saturday morning, the sun was shining (for half an hour or so!) and it fairly lit up the Hall. As mentioned previously,
the exterior walls have all been treated with specialist cleaning products and it just keeps getter better and better. In addition, we’ve had the doors, soffits and ironworks all painted which has enhanced the building even more. Hopefully, we’ll be starting work on the ‘corridor project’ later in the summer and the addition of automatic doors and a ramp at the main entrance.
The Village Hall continues to be very busy with all of our groups, from Dance Classes, Yoga, Karate and Harp group to the N.E. Rat Society, W.I., Hardy Plants, Badminton and Bowls to name just a few. The calendar is displayed in the porch area of the VH if you are interested in joining any group.
We had a fantastic night in May when the Hall was taken over by Baldy Holly and his band. A sell-out night, the Trustees served a supper of Lasagne with the usual accompaniments and hopefully enjoyed by all. The band were brilliant, as someone commented, it’s not very often that the dance floor is full in the first set! Lots of dancing and great fun. I think we might invite Baldy back again!
We have a wedding at the Hall in June which is very special and quite a few children’s birthday parties coming up, not to mention the booking on 4th July! Coffee Club continues with Liz’s blessing, on the first Wednesday of every month, 10.30 -12noon, come along, enjoy good company and chat as well as tea, coffee, biscuits and occasionally some home-baking. The raffle is always good fun too!
